DVC’s Psychology Department offers everything from adolescent development to transpersonal psychology.
Now it has added two new courses to its roster:
- • Research Methods (Psychology 215)
- Learn how psychologists employ the scientific method to study human behavior.
- • Social Psychology (Psychology 225)
- How thoughts, feelings and behavior of individuals are influenced by the actual, imagined or
implied presence of others.
Coming soon:
- • Critical Thinking in Psychology (Psychology 145)
- Develop critical thinking and writing skills necessary to analyze, evaluate and make decisions
concerning contemporary issues in psychology.
- • Life Span Development (Psychology 200)
- Focus on the developmental changes and social-cultural events that take place in one’s life from infancy to old age.
Critical Thinking (Psych 145) and Research Methods in Psychology (Psych 215) are required classes in the new
“Area of Emphasis” in Psychology. The DVC Psychology program offers an Associates Degree with an emphasis in
Psychology that provides students with a basic understanding of behavior and motivation that is valuable in many careers.
This Area of Emphasis also prepares transfer students in pursuit of a psychology bachelor’s degree by fulfilling typical
lower-division requirements for many four-year institutions.
